Apple Crisp

Ingredients

8 apples, sliced

2 Tablespoons boiling water

½ cup sugar

Juice of a ½ lemon

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Topping:

1 cup flour

¾ cups sugar

Stick of butter


Instructions

Place the apples in a baking dish; pour the boiling water, sugar, juice of lemon, and cinnamon over the apples.  Cut butter into flour for the topping; add sugar and pour dry mixture over apples; bake ½ hour at 350 degrees; serve with whipped cream or ice cream.


Note:  this is not a ‘crisp’, it’s almost like a quick apple cobbler without the heavy crust.  It is a delicious recipe is from the ’60s. My Mom made a note in the cookbook for me—’Lucianne, this is good.’
