Flower’s Oven BBQ’d Pork Chops

Ingredients

    1 egg slightly beaten

    ½ cup evaporated milk

    6 (1-inch thick) pork chops

    1 cup bread crumbs

    1 cup flour

    Salt and pepper to taste

    3-4 Tablespoons melted fat

    1 cup tomato catsup

    ¾ cup white sugar

    6 Tablespoons brown sugar

    1 teaspoon mustard-yellow or brown

    1-2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Directions

Combine egg and milk. Dip pork chop in milk mixture. Roll in bread crumbs, flour, salt & pepper mixture. Season to taste with salt and pepper, brown on both sides in hot fat in heavy skillet. Remove from frying pan and place in the bottom of a casserole dish. Mix catsup, sugars, vinegar, and mustard together. Cover pork chops liberally. Cover with aluminum foil, shiny side down. Bake in a moderate 375-degree oven. About 45 minutes until chops are tender. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes to create the best flavor.

NOTE: This was my mom's recipe - except there was no recipe! This is as close as I can get it, but make it yours, the sauce is all about how it tastes to you. Make it with the recipe once, then add or subtract to your taste! For thinner pork chops reduce cooking time! Enjoy!
