The 12 Goodies of Christmas: Angel Cookies

Angel Cookies.jpg

Christmas is a magical time of year. It’s the time we look forward to spending time with family, giving Christmas presents, sending cards, and it’s that one time of year where we open our hearts and warm our spirits with goodwill toward others. But let’s be honest — the best part of Christmas is the food: cookies, cakes, fudge, hard candy, soft candy, gingerbread, eggnog, and a million other goodies that are dangerously irresistible. It’s Christmas, so the calories don’t count until the new year anyway. Cypress has gathered 12 recipes of sweets and treats to share with you — and don’t worry, we tested them out too. Try out a recipe or two and let us know how your goodies turned out. Have a recipe of your own? Share it with us! We’d love to try it!

1 cup butter

⅔ cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 ½ cups sifted flour

Cream together the butter and sugar. Then, beat in the egg. Combine and add the vanilla and flour. Mix until ingredients are well-blended. Chill dough for 3-4 hours before rolling. On a floured surface, roll out the dough and cut with a cookie cutter, placing the cookies on a baking sheet. Bake at 350℉ for 8-10 minutes, or until barely browned. Let cool for 10 minutes before frosting.

¾ cups sifted powdered sugar

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 tablespoon milk

½ teaspoon vanilla

¼ teaspoon lemon juice

Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth.
