Mincemeat Cookies

(Yes, there is such a thing, and NO, it does not have real meat in it. Look for a box in the dried FRUIT section.)

Ingredients:

1 ½ cup sugar

1 cup shortening (half butter, half oleo)

3 eggs

1 teaspoon soda dissolved in

1 ½ Tablespoon hot water

3 ¼ cup flour

½ teaspoon salt

1 package mincemeat, broken up

1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:

Mix in the order given.  Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
