Fudge Brownie Pie

Ingredients:

1 unbaked pie shell

2 cups sugar

½ cup flour

5 Tablespoons cocoa

2 sticks butter

4 eggs

½ teaspoon salt

A generous teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions:

Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt. Melt butter and combine. Add eggs, beat well, then add vanilla. Pour into the pie shell. Cook at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. (ish! You’ll want to make sure this does not get overdone.)

We changed the recipe just a little. We melted the butter, and instead of powdered cocoa, I used Baker’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate—the whole package and melted it with the butter. Remove from the burner. Add your sugar, then the rest of the ingredients. Pour into the pie crust and bake.

My Mom made a special pie for my Dad. I’ve been hunting for that recipe forever and when I found the one above, it was almost like hers. I tweaked it just a little with what I KNEW went into hers, and it tasted remarkably close!  The only other thing that she added was a sprinkle of chopped pecans and homemade whipped cream. Perfect!
